The fountain has an open basin above two airtight vessels. The middle vessel holds water. Water from the basin flows down into the lower vessel and compresses its air.
An air pipe carries pressure to the middle vessel, forcing its water up to a nozzle above the basin. The jet falls into the basin and supplies the downward flow. Operation stops when the middle vessel’s water is exhausted.
